Sexual Assault Services
The only certified rape crisis center in Pinellas County, Sexual Assault Services provides comprehensive prevention, education and treatment for child and adult sexual assault survivors & their families.
Started in 1981 as a service project of the St. Petersburg Jr. League, the program offers Pinellas County a comprehensive treatment program for sexual violence survivors and their families. Program objectives include reduction of trauma symptoms reported by survivors, restoration of trust and self-esteem in survivors, education of child survivors to reduce risk of further assault, support and education to families recovering from this trauma, and primary prevention education to schools and other agencies and organizations.
Program components include: individual, family and group therapy for male and female, adult and child survivors; safety groups for children at risk of sexual abuse; psycho-educational groups for parents and loved ones of sexually-abused children; court/case advocacy as needed; and community presentations for professionals and students.
The program operates a 24-hour rape crisis hotline which provides crisis intervention, advocacy and referrals. Staff and volunteers are also available to accompany victims to SAVE medical exams.
Service Hours: Monday - Thursday: 9:00am - 8:00pm; Friday: 8:30am - 4:30pm, with additional appointments as needed.
The Rape Crisis Hotline is operational 24/7, 365 days per year.
