Family Service Centers Now a Division of
Suncoast Center, Inc.!

The FSC Board of Directors approved a full merger into Suncoast Center, Inc., a community mental health provider headquartered in St. Petersburg, effective November 30, 2009.

The union of the two long-time collaborators in local child and family services results in a combined unit well-positioned to offer deeper levels of services to an even broader spectrum of residents. Suncoast’s 60 years of experience in mental and behavioral health complements FSC’s expertise in such areas as individual and family counseling, education and self-sufficiency initiatives, in-home support services, and operation of Pinellas County’s only certified rape crisis treatment center.

Community Joins Forces to Benefit Survivors of Sexual Assault

The generosity of four local groups resulted in the delivery and installation of playground equipment to the St. Petersburg campus of FSC, Pinellas County’s only certified rape crisis treatment center. The fenced-in area represents the first time child survivors of sexual assault, as well as children of adult survivors, will have a secure recreation area at FSC’s southernmost location.

The Pinellas Feather Sound Rotary Club donated the equipment and led the volunteer labor group.  The United Way of Tampa Bay contributed additional volunteers.  Konitz Construction of Largo provided equipment storage throughout the summer, as well as crane delivery and placement of the heavy equipment.  Fencing was donated by Smith Fence of Clearwater.  On behalf of the children and families we serve, FSC is humbly grateful for the dedication and hard work of these generous individuals and organizations.
